ASI:Work Skills: Routines Your AI Already Knows

A chat answer solves something once. A skill teaches your AI a whole way of working, so a repeat job gets done the same careful way every time.

Every team has jobs that are really five jobs wearing a trench coat. File a ticket. Write the weekly report. Onboard a new client. Each one is a whole routine: check something first, then follow the steps, then do it the same way next week.

A skill is a routine your AI has learned. Flip one on and your AI doesn't answer a question - it runs the whole workflow, start to finish, with your OK on the steps that matter.

What a skill looks like in practice

Say your team files IT tickets all day, and there's a right way to do it. Someone writes a create-ticket skill that captures the process:

  • First, check whether a ticket is already open for the same problem, so you never double-file.
  • If there is one, say so and link it instead of starting over.
  • If there isn't, follow the IT and HR policies for filing the ticket - the right category, the right details, the right tone.

Now the whole dance is one sentence in the Work chat:

You: File a ticket for the new hire's laptop following our IT policy - but first check whether one's already open.
Your AI: I checked the help desk first - there's no open ticket for this yet. I've drafted a new one following your IT policy: category Hardware, new-hire onboarding details included, HR cc'd per policy. Want me to file it?
You: Yes, file it.
Your AI: Filed. The ticket details are in the summary - and next time you ask, I'll check for duplicates first, same as this time.

That's the difference between an answer and a routine. The skill knows the steps and the order they go in - including the check-first part people usually skip.

What skills are for

Reach for a skill whenever the job repeats and the steps matter:

  • •
Filing and tracking - tickets, requests, escalations

Anything with a checklist and a policy behind it, done the same way every time.

  • •
Recurring reports - weekly digests, status updates, rollups

Same sources, same shape, same care, on repeat.

  • •
Onboarding and handoffs - new clients, new teammates, new projects

The checklist your team always means to follow, actually followed.

Skills come with you

Skills live with your ASI:One account. You browse and turn them on in the Skills Library, the same place you already manage skills for your chat AI. From there they travel with you: before each Work task starts, the skills you've turned on are already there.

No installing. No importing. Turn a skill on once, and it shows up ready.

When in doubt, chat

You don't have to remember what a skill is called or whether one exists. Describe the outcome you want - "file this the way our IT team likes" - and your AI uses the right routine, or tells you it doesn't have one yet.

Start with one

Pick the job your team repeats most, and see if a skill already covers it. If it does, your first run is one sentence long. If it doesn't, describe the routine in chat and see how close your AI gets - that draft usually tells you exactly what a skill would lock in.
